COST Action CA18218

Communication strategy

There are three key objectives of the communication of the Action:

  1. Create awareness of and advocate for the burden of disease approach in Europe
  2. Reach and attract collaborators in the use of the burden of disease approach in Europe
  3. Inform on the relative importance of different diseases and risk factors that may affect the European population

The communications objectives will be met by communicating through various channels and platforms and adapted to the different groups of stakeholders.

Communication platforms

Website

Our website (www.burden-eu.net) serves as the major dissemination hub, and includes news items and general information on objectives, WGs, and events. It also hosts key deliverables of the Action, i.e., the database of BoD studies, and the standardized and open-access tools and training materials. Finally, it serves as the central contact point for involved BoD experts. The website of the Action also provides a unique portal to the dissemination of research results to the general public and stakeholders

Social media

In addition to the website, the Action’s accounts on twitter and LinkedIn target different groups of stakeholders. Communication via these platforms includes news on recent achievements, upcoming events and opportunities (conferences, workshops, training schools, publications, reports, etc.). In addition, the Action’s twitter profile serves as a direct communication platform via live tweets during conferences and MC meetings.

The Action furthermore disseminates research results, mainly targeted towards other researchers involved in burden of disease studies or with interests in the subject and methodology, via the Action’s ResearchGate project.

A list of previous newsletters is available via https://www.burden-eu.net/news/newsletters.

Acknowledging COST

In general, when submitting manuscripts associated with burden-eu topics, please acknowledge COST – this is very important for the Action success, and obligatory for any form of direct support, and especially for results associated with STSMs.

You can use one of the following sentences, which are in line with COST instructions on acknowledgements:

  • This publication is based upon work from COST Action CA18218 (European Burden of Disease Network; www.burden-eu.net), supported by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology; www.cost.eu).
  • This study was performed within the framework of COST Action CA18218 (European Burden of Disease Network; www.burden-eu.net), supported by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology; www.cost.eu).
  • The authors would like to acknowledge the networking support from COST Action CA18218 (European Burden of Disease Network; www.burden-eu.net), supported by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology; www.cost.eu).

Also, please add "European Burden of Disease Network" to the manuscript keywords. This will help index the papers in databases and associate them to our network.
